Clear the Smoke

Brochure-Site: Also known as an "information-site" and exactly what it sounds like; this can be thought of as an online company brochure. Once complete, any editing will have to be done by an individual with some web development knowledge.

CMS: An abbreviation for "Content Management System". Unlike a basic brochure-site, once designed and initially developed, adding and removing content from the site can be done by anyone with basic computer knowledge. As far as our personal development practices are concerned, we prefer to use the WordPress platform. It's free. Don't be confused, it's not just for "blogging". It's an extremely powerful tool when it comes to designing websites. Find out more here.

SEO: Another abbreviation for "Search Engine Optimization". Rather than diving too deep in explanation, SEO is basically the collective techniques used to improve a web site's ranking with search engines. In turn, visitor traffic MAY increase.

Meta: When it comes to web development, meta elements are used to specify page keywords, descriptions, authors (of documents), modified dates, etc.

Analytics: We use Google Analytics. In their own words, "Google Analytics is the enterprise-class web analytics solution that gives you rich insights into your website traffic and marketing effectiveness". Find our more here.

Favicon: Also known as a "favorites icon", shortcut, website, or URL icon, this is an icon associated with a particular website, and is typically displayed in the address bar of a web browser.

Sitemap: This is a document (both HTML and XML versions) detailing the various pages on a website and how they link to each other. This helps both visitors find pages (HTML) and search engines (XML) to index a site.
